Obscured Perceptions
Chapter Eight

"Where I'm from, there is no 'United States of America'." Mamoru said plainly. "Great Britain suppressed the revolt by the colonists in the 1700s. Today that area and the adjacent northern area, this area called 'Canada', are all one unified country. It is know as the 'United Kingdom Colonial Empire."

"Wait...what!?" Gunmax demanded, but leaned back too far in his seat in shock and fell backwards onto the floor.

Meanwhile, Duke and Seiji met McCrane, Shadowmaru, Yuuta, and Seia at her squadron's base. After briefing the female officer on the strange going-on as of late, she led them over to the storage garage where the vehicle was found moments ago. "It wasn't here yesterday and both the night guards and the morning patrols insist they didn't see or hear anything. It's as if the car just walked in and idled here." She mused.

"Was there nothing on the security cameras?" McCrane asked, looking around and seeing cameras posted on every corner. He doubted there was a square inch of the compound that wasn't monitored.

"No. Just some shadows moving around cameras eleven, fourteen, and nineteen." Seia said. "Its like it just appeared out of thin air."

"Yeah, that sounds about right." Shadowmaru mused; thinking about Seiji had 'magically' appeared beneath a collapsed building or how Mamoru appeared just off shore from Tokyo Harbor.

Yuuta looked at Seiji. "You think this armored truck is one of your friends?" He asked.

Seiji nodded. "Yeah, definitely." He said. He took a step towards the garage, stopping just long enough giving the Seia a playful smirk. "By-the-by, are you single?"

"Seiji!" Duke admonished. Behind him, Shadowmaru held a now irate McCrane at bay.

"Hey, man, easy! Sheesh…" Seiji said, the light in his optics changing hues as he gave McCrane an eye-roll. "I don't fool around with chicks that are spoken for. Relax." He assured, giving Seia a wink all the same.

McCrane blushed. "I didn't…Seia-san isn't….I mean…" He coughed bashfully and looked over at Seia, who smiled back, making McCrane blush more.

"Yeah, whatever." Seiji scoffed lightly. He gave Duke a quick jab to the middle with his elbow before continuing inside. "Hey, come with, you'll want to meet this one."

"Oh?" Duke asked roughly, rubbing the dent now adorning his right side. "This would be my alternate other, then?" Seiji nodded. "Ah, wonderful. It'd be nice to have another proper English gentlemech around."

Seiji snorted and started cackling madly, much to the other's confusion, "Yeah, English…..right." He said teasingly, and walked inside the garage with the truck in question. Upon immediate inspection, nothing seemed out of place. "Oi! Ich bin es, Seiji, wach deinen Arsch hoch. Gehen wir Soldat!" The black and gold shouted into the hanger.

Everyone had all of four seconds to process what Seiji had said, or rather the language he'd said it in, before a heavy diesel engine roared to life, followed immediately by an armored truck rolling out from the very back on the garage and transforming in to a robot that was the spitting image of Duke.

There were several key differences however, starting with the mech's sturdier build. He was stockier and broader across the shoulders. He seemed….ridged in his posture, while Duke's stance and presence echoed nobility, this mech brought the word 'soldier' to mind. As if to add to that idea, he was painted in muted browns, grays, and greens with white and black accents. Rather than the Arthurian style armor Duke sported, this robot's was more reminiscent of formal military attire, his helm had even been molded to resemble a beret.

"Zeiji, Zir! Es ist gut, ein bekanntes Gesicht zu sehen." The other robot replied, giving Seiji hand a firm shake. His voice sounded exactly like Duke's in both pitch and tone. However, rather than the White Knight's well-define British accent, this robot had a throaty, almost guttural sounding inflection within it. As the two talked, no doubt Seiji filling the other in on what was happening; the BPs used their vocalizing resonance software and immediately recognized the origin of the military-styled robot's accent.

"German?!" Duke gasped, gaining Seiji and his friend's attention. "Why didn't you say that before!?" The white knight demanded, feeling the slightest bit embarrassed and offended, although he wasn't sure why.

"Because the look on your face right now is priceless~" Seiji snorted, earning a small growl from Duke. "Guys, meet my best friend second only to Boss. This is Baron von Krieger."

McCrane blinked. "Von Krieger…. 'the Warrior'?"

"Just 'Baron' vill do, zank jou." The other robot said quietly, rubbing the back of his neck, seeming oddly bashful over his full title. He gave each of the BP robots a quick look over before his optic fell onto Yuuta. "Zeiji, I dun't mean to pry but…."

"You have a few thousand questions running through your head, am I right?" The black and gold interrupted.

"Ja." Baron said simply.

"I'll explain everything when we get back to our temporary hangout." Seiji assured.

Baron nodded in agreement. "Alzo, Zeiji…I happened to find jour trailer. I have it hidden nearby."

"For real!? Sweet, where is it!?" Seiji asked excitedly, then before Baron could answer he added, "Was Boss with it too?"

"Nein, I apologize, I dun't know vere…." He stopped short, Seiji giving him a small wave.

"Its fine bro. Boss has to be somewhere around here. I've already found Kenta and Mamoru…." Seiji chuckled a bit at Shadowmaru, who made a small noise like one clearing their throat. "I mean, we found…so Boss should turn up eventually." He sighed, obviously worried about Yuuta's counterpart.

For a split second, McCrane saw Deckerd mirrored in Seiji's expression. However, just as swiftly as it came, it left with out a trace. "You mentioned a trailer?" The mobile-crane asked.

"Ja!" Baron replied, motioning for the others to follow him. He led them around the back of the military base, where the terrain of the area shifted into a steep natural gully. Camouflage tarps were strewn about here and there.

"This is our combat training area." Seia explained. "I'm not sure I believe a whole semi-trailer could be hidden here…"

McCrane nodded, expecting something like Deckerd's J-Roader, or Duke's Fire Roader, and was surprised that he couldn't immediately find the vehicle in question. "Is it buried perhaps?"

"I'm not getting anything on my scanners." Shadowmaru said, sounding frustrated. "There's something jamming my sensors though."

Yuuta looked around the area, his time with the Brave Police giving him an eye for details, and still he didn't see anything that was out of the ordinary. He sighed in defeat. "Ok, where is it…?"

Seiji grinned and put two fingers at his lips, giving a shrill whistle like a master calling its dog. A moment later, a semi trailer similar in design to J-Roader appeared out of seemingly nowhere, having been cloaked this whole time, hiding in plain sight. Its engine fired up with a roar, but instead of driving towards the group, it transformed into a giant robot dog and trotted over to Seiji, letting out an excited noise that could have been a bark.

"Little G!" Seiji greeted with equal excitement, patting the strange mechanical creature on its hood.

"Your trailer is your pet?" Duke asked, not sure what to make of all this.

"Pssht, don't be stupid." Seiji scoffed again. "Little G is my pet. More my buddy really. He…or I guess 'it', just uses the equipment trailer for a body now and again."

Everyone, sans Baron and Seiji, exchanged glances but decided explanations could wait until later with everyone present to listen. One thing was certain though; Seiji, his teammates, and the parallel reality as a whole was quickly becoming more and more confusing and bizarre.
